Question to all JWD Old Timers
by Big Tex ini've only been hanging around this forum for nearly a year (lurking for a few months and then i started posting in july).
now that this board is 3 years old, i'm curious about something.
how would you rate the state of jehovahs-witnesses.com now as opposed to 2000-early 2002?

It's mostly fluff here these days, seems like most of the serious posters have left for other climes.

What are your experiences of dating in the truth?
by goofy ini really never dated that much inside the orgainisation because of a lack of available brothers.
the couple of times i did not great.
i once asked a brother out and it was all over the congregation as to how inappropriate that was since it should be the man who does the asking.

They all really wanted to get married, and most of them were not too resistant.

News article said that Halliburton put out over 300 Kuwaiti fires so I guess they know what they're doing. Like I said above, they were apparently the only company that could move immediately.

I read today that Halliburton is out of the running for the big "rebuilding Iraq" contract so I guess the conspiracy theory is out the window.

I checked on this a little further and found out that as far as the oil well fires go, Halliburton was the only one of the companies that was prepared to start on this immediately, like the next day. Apparently they have people in Kuwait who are of course pretty experienced in this kind of thing.

Major WTS Prophecy goes down to defeat !!!
by Amazing inmany here may recall that the watchtower society has published much material on the prophetic role of the united nations ... specifically, the united nations is the scarlet colored wild beast, the "image" of the worldly 7 headed wild political beast ... it would be given life by the two-horned dual world power of britain and america, the "lamb-like beast spoken of in revelation ... this "image" beast would be given power to rule one prophetic hour over the nations as they subordinate their national sovereignty to it ... and so on ...
then ... after the creation of the united nations in 1945 in san francisco the wts interpreted revelation regarding the demise of the old league of nations to apply to a statement in revelation that this "image" beast would be revived in the form of the united nations ... seemingly, the wts was on to something ... and for the next 45 years (until about 1990) the watchtower published anything and everything they could to make their interpretation stick with respect to how deep in the time of the end they believed we were living in ... then, about 1990, the watchtower society joined the un as a member ngo ... a significant departure from their previous stand on political neutrality ... and ... hatred of satan's old system of things ... certainly, since we are nearly 90 years into the last days of this wicked system we would expect the un to be in control or at least taking the lead ...
so, now ... where do we stand as of march 19th, 2003?

I wouldn't say it's defeated yet, but some pretty serious people are talking about the defacto end of the UN so it might be. I do believe that might cause the boys in Patterson a few problems. I know they can be shifty but I don't see an easy way around this one.

I ran across this the other day. I though it very strange that the Witnesses were singled out given the history of many other religious groups. I suspect an ax is being ground here.

Does anyone know of an elder that actually helped a sexual abuse survivor?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inthere are soooooooo many victims (although i prefer to use the word: survivor) of sexual abuse coming out of the borg and telling their horrible stories, including my own family.
i have read stories that made me feel either angry, frustrated, revolted, furious.............but they all made me feel sad.. in every story it seems that the wts, elders and jws in general have let the child and/or family down.
from my own personal experience i can say that the elders in the congregation where my child was abused didn't do anything to protect other kids, and certainly didn't show love and support for my child or our family.

Yes, I know of several cases. One elder of my acquaintance has been particularly effective not only in child abuse but in spousal abuse cases. He gets the authorities involved immediately.

Ah well, if a left wing rag like the New York Times says it then it must be true.
Realistically, how many companies in the world can actually do something like this? There's just a handful and Halliburton is one of them. So they won they bid, so what. Given the baying hounds of the leftist media you can bet that whoever awarded this contract was pretty careful that everything was kosher.
